tim's Bits and Pieces - 12. In the Mirror

To the one who inspired this ... i hope things are better.

For most, the day comes when we gaze in the glass

And wonder who it is, that we see looking back

The face may be yours, but the man there has changed

He’s living a life you neither wanted nor planned

Nothing feels real, and your control is sliding

Life is running you and you, are at its mercy.

 

Who will be walking the next leg of this journey?

Change is a constant and so nothing to fear

Sloughing off layers of the old—allows us to grow

Self-regeneration brings us new hope, so

Gaze at the man in the mirror with gentler eyes

He's someone who's ready to take on his life

                                     ___

I can really relate to several of the lines in this poem and what I see as its message. I sometimes wonder how getting older snuck by me until here I am. Older. And when did that happen? I also like the ending. I see it as a message of hope. Thank you.

thanks Jeffrey... yes, time slips by when we are busy with the business of life. I'm glad this feels hopeful .. no point in not being hopeful.  thanks so much for reading xo
