tim's Bits and Pieces - 16. Life Redux
The second poem is for a friend of mine who is struggling.
1.
I’ve never wanted to live before, but,
In past weeks clouds have cleared
The sun has risen and in darkness—a light shines
Call it hope, call it reward; it is a beacon
It beckons me forward into the light
No longer will I turn my face from the sun
Hiding in the safety of a felted gloom
I reach out instead to the soft glow of life
Tears perch in my eyes, as the world is revealed
Because I’ve never wanted to live before.
2.
I listen to your soft voice
Crying out into the wind
You seek the innocent part of you;
there are none of us who’ve not sinned
You feel beyond redemption
A soul not worthy to be saved
You’re as wrong, as wrong can be,
but the way to heaven isn’t paved
It’s a rough road, fraught with pitfalls
And marshy bogs to stumble through
Mole hills took our breath away
When into mountains they grew
Each trial is more demanding
Its purpose to help us grow
To bring us peace and righteousness
Before it’s our time to go
Keep walking forever onwards
Remembering the lessons that you’ve learned
Stride forward with determination
Leave the past behind, the future should be yearned.

Thanks to all of you who read. Without you, poetry is less.
