While You Waited
You kept saying
there would be time—
to breathe,
to move,
to become who
you were meant to be.
You watched the days,
like a train rushing past,
too fast to name,
then lingering in the station
while on the platform you were
always almost ready to board.
The invitation unopened,
the unanswered call,
the light on your face
shifting slowly
from morning gold
to evening's silver grace.
You told yourself
this wasn’t it—
that the real thing
was just ahead,
if you could only hold still
a little longer.
But seasons changed
without your recognition.
People left.
Dreams softened.
The air grew quieter
around you.
And now,
in a moment of stillness,
you realize:
life wasn’t waiting.
It was happening—
even as you blinked,
even as you hesitated,
even as you hoped
for more time.
There is no blame in this.
Only the hush
of missed chances,
and the strange comfort
of knowing
you are not alone.
