Into the fields of Summer - 21. Winds of Change 6
Chris’ POV
It was a crisp autumn morning and I yawned as my body started to wake. I could Victor’s embrace as he snuggled behind me, his warmth giving me comfort, his smell lulling me into calmness. I could feel him move a bit and I ask “you awake?”
“Yeah...” he replied in his sexy morning voice.
“Come on let’s grab some breakfast” I suggested as I flipped over and faced him, his piercing green eyes looking right into my soul.
“Just one more minute” he suggested, his longing eyes making my heart melt so early in the morning.
Victor gently brushed my hair and touched my cheeks and traced my nose and then he gave me a small morning peck on the lips. He smiles and says “okay, let’s eat”
When Victor and I entered the kitchen area, dad was already there cooking us some breakfast.
“Morning the both of you” Dad said as he smiled back at the both of us.
“Mornin’ Dad”
“Mornin’ Mr. R”
“Hey now Victor... what’s with you and this Mr. R again and again... William will do just fine... You’re old enough to be my great grand father” Dad smiled back at Victor’s constant usage of “Mr. R” as a name for my dad.
“Well... William... hehe” Victor laughed a bit. “I kinda like calling you Mr. R, fits well with my teenage image” Victor snickered a bit.
“Haha” I lightly punch Victor’s shoulder at that remark. “So Dad, seems like you’ll still be Mr. R for the time being”
“Hehe, seems so son, hehe, anyway, breakfast will be ready in 5 minutes, you both help me with the plates will yah?”
Breakfast was fun, we three traded jokes every now and then. It was obvious that Dad and Victor were trying to distract me from the events of Saturday night and I’m more than glad that they’re around me to cheer me up coz honestly, what happened that night still scares me, but my dad and boyfriend are doing a job of lifting my spirits, I’m just hoping I won’t be having any nightmares anytime soon.
Morning lessons were a little bit lighter than usual as dad didn’t want to push my body too hard. Which was more than welcome for my body and mind for that matter.
Victor visited me back at home by early afternoon and the both of us basically hung out by the couch in the living room watching some Netflix while we snuggled together, sneaking a kiss or two every now and then. Having Victor’s warm body beside me always gave me comfort, I don’t know where the myth of vampires being cold to the touch started, but it certainly is not true for Victor’s case.
After school, Leo immediately joined Victor and I and we played some board games to pass the time. Leo was actively trying to cheer me up as well, something that he was actually really good at.
“Oh darn it, you’ve bankrupted me! I give up” I feigned anger at Leo for winning our game of Monopoly three times in a row.
Leo just stuck his tongue right at me for being so petty. Well he’s always been better than me when it comes to board games anyways.
While we three were cooking dinner, I asked the nagging question that’s been bothering me. “So Victor... uhm... will I be a vampire now? Since that lady bit me?” I asked softly as I chopped some tomatoes and cut some other vegetables.
Victor immediately went to me and hugged me from behind. “Oh no honey, no... no... it doesn’t work like that. The Vampire that turns you must consciously Will it to transform you, it must be deliberate, we have to inject a significant amount of our vampire hormones into your blood stream in exchange for your blood as we suck for the turn to happen., Your dad and I did a quick scan and you’re in the clear, and if you were changing we should know it by now... coz a human that’s undergoing the change will be a sleep for at least 30 days.”
“Oh I see” relieved that the choice of becoming a vampire has not been forced upon me, my tone clearly showing relief. The thought of becoming a vampire like Victor has indeed crossed my mind several times, I mean, he’s immortal right?, if I remain as I am right now, I’ll age and Victor will still be his 18 year old self, we might have 50 to 70 years together, but spending hundreds if not thousands with him is a tempting idea, however, there are other things to consider, and it’s still too early for that decision to be made, I have time, for now, though I know we’d have to talk about this some time in the future.
“Is the bite always that painful?” I asked. Thinking how painful it must be for other humans bitten by vampires. The pain I felt that night was indescribable.
“No no honey, it’s not supposed to be painful at all, it’s obvious that that female vampire had no regard for your safety or well being, when we bite or donors at the feeding centers, we release painkillers and muscle relaxants into their system, if it were as painful as I think you felt, we wouldn’t have that many donors at all” Victor explained as he continued to hug me.
“Ah... I see” remembering how painful that bite was. Despite the puncture being healed, I can still feel a tingle from where the part of my neck where I was bitten, as if some sort of phantom wound that haunts me.
Dinner was more somber than usual even when dad joined the three of us for dinner. They did really try to cheer me up and I smiled and laughed a bit every now and then but the fear and sense of helplessness I felt during that night kept on creeping back.
Victor spent the night again with me to keep me company. As we were hugging each other and face to face, he gently brushed my hair and asked... “Do you hate me?”
“What? What do you mean?” I was confused by his question.
“Because I’m a vampire... and you know...” his voiced trailed off. His face filled with worry and fear of rejection, you can imagine the thoughts of a possible break up coming from me was something he has thought of, which is something down right crazy!
I hugged my boyfriend tighter and we our faces were now barely 2 inches apart. “Of course not... I don’t hate you... I love you!” I hugged him closer and kissed him.
I then continued. “It’s just that, I don’t want to be helpless, and feel like I’m a burden to all of you” I said sniffling a bit.
“Oh honey, you’re far from one. If it makes you feel better I’ll make sure you get trained for fighting okay?” Victor said.
“Okay... deal” I kissed him again and then a few minutes later I was already asleep.
Tuesday, I didn’t attend soccer practice as all three boys in my life thought I should rest more. That day was spent either studying or snuggling with my boyfriend.
The following day, dad and Victor thought I’m already healthy enough to go to soccer practice and more strenuous physical activities. Victor even brought me to his gym at home which was more than a home gym, the entire gym occupied the fourth level of his basement area. Various machines and equipment were available and at the center was a 16ft x 16ft fighting area - for boxing or whatever kind of match imaginable. The entire floor had firm yet shock absorbent panels, the entire facility was fully ventilated and air conditioned as well. Shower rooms were located on the far end of the gym.
In the gym, I was greeted by Henry who’ll be my trainer, it’s been quite a while since I last saw him, but he still looks good, yum, hehe, well built body and torso, hehe. We spent 30 minutes or so on posture and stature and various fighting stances. We then spent the next 30 minutes on basic blocking, punching, and kicking. We’ll be moving over to more complicated self defense techniques as we progress.
After my training with Henry, I was already a little sore but more than ready for soccer. Our training was the usual, I could still feel that the team is still pretty much bummed for not wining the game last Saturday, but we’ll get over it, we’ve lost in the prior seasons and this certainly would not be the last one for our little soccer club.
Victor spent the night again with me and this time I was back in dreamland, at least no nightmare for me this time.
