Timothy - 62. Chapter 62
I wasn't convinced that this would be a good meeting. She has been so angry at me over the last few months, and I could not see any other reaction from her. With her doctor, we entered the room. As soon as she saw me, she had an angry look in her eyes. "Hello, Ann Marie."
"What are you doing here?"
The doctor put his hand on my shoulder, "Ann Marie, we talked about this. Remember what I said about families, how they must stick together, how they provide support for each other. Tim is part of your family, and he is concerned about you. If he weren't concerned about your welfare, he wouldn't have bought you to me so I could help you get well. Won't you give him a chance?"
As the doctor spoke, I could see Ann Marie relax slightly, but still no smile. The doctor left the room. I went and sat beside Dad, and Ann Marie would glance at me. She ignored me and talked to Dad. I expected Mom to say something, but she continued to show photos to Ann Marie and chat about Eva Marie. I wasn't expecting a warm welcome, so I guess being ignored is better than being yelled at. I got the message, and she was still bitter.
I stood up, saying goodbye. I left the room, and the doctor was waiting for me. "Come, let's watch what happens now."
Dad was the first, "Ann Marie, you weren't nice to Tim. You are here because he cares about you."
"He cares about the money and humiliating me, just like all of the boys who I dated. All they wanted was to have sex with me, and all Tim wants is to make me beg him for what is rightly mine."
"Did you forget he was the one who found the pre opt was illegal, which allowed you to get your rightful share of the estate?"
"Yes, I didn't forget that. He controls my money, and it's my money."
"Let me remind you, how did you spend the 10,000 dollars you had? Why did you come home with no money. Ann Marie, you don't hate Tim because of his control of your money. You hate him because he is a man. He has spent his time and money ferreting out those boys who raped you. Would he have done that if he hated you? He is protecting you and wants you to heal. The next time he sees you, remember he does what is necessary to ensure you have a future."
Ann Marie had tears in her eyes. "I'm going to take her to her room. I'll see you next Monday with your Mom and Dad."
Riding to work in Dad's car, "Dad, I appreciate what you said. I'm not sure it's going to help."
"Next week, you need to bring her up to date on what has happened to those boys."
"I'll do better. I'm calling the newspaper with a story that will shock the city. I'm going to initiate a lawsuit against those boys. It might be too late to have the police involved but not too late to sue them."
Arriving at work, I said goodbye to Mom and Dad, heading for the cafeteria for lunch and meeting up with Stephen.
As I sat down, "How did it go?"
I spent lunchtime answering his questions. "Are you going to go next week?"
"Yes, but before I go, I have some homework for us."
