Timothy - 18. Chapter 18

Graduation didn’t have the excitement I thought it would have. I guess the upcoming marriage had overshadowed my excitement. Stephen asked if I was nervous about graduation or the wedding. “I’m more anxious to get it all over.”

After the graduation ceremonies were over, the University celebrated the graduates and their families. There were snacks served with coffee, wine, or sodas. It gave families a chance to talk with the graduates, and for some, they had a distance to go before they were home. We had a wedding to attend.

Standing before the priest, as we said our vows, I could see Donnie standing behind the priest, smiling. I had tears in my eyes as my thoughts went to Donnie. Stephen took my hand, and my vision of Donnie faded. “I now pronounce you, husband and husband. May God bless you both as you continue your lives.”

With those words, we were rushed by family. Stephen had arranged a lunch for everyone at an up-class restaurant near the University. My mother gave me my grandfather’s ring that had the Greek symbol of justice on it. Stephen’s parents booked us for a cruise, a honeymoon cruise, they said. I was surprised when Stephen’s mother hugged me and kissed my cheek. When I looked at Stephen, he was more surprised.

For the next few days, we cleaned out our apartments. The food we gave to Al. He asked Stephen if he could have his Queen size bed. He had a single bed. “Why does he want a queen size bed? He lives alone.” Then I began to laugh.

“What’s so funny?”

“Albert has a sinister mind, and I’ll bet he thinks June will join him.”

“He better be careful, or he will be married before the next semester is over.”

Randy wanted to know why we were laughing. Stephen whispered something in his ears, and he started to laugh.

Packing the car with our items, we were ready to drive Randy home. Mrs. Kenner came to say goodbye. She whispered something to Randy, and I had a feeling if Randy attended the University, he would be a tenant at her place.

Arriving home, Mom and Dad had a gift for me, a new car. Guess who got my old car? If you said Randy, you would be right. I wasn’t sure who was happiest, Randy or Dad.

“Stephen, I think Randy has become my brother in Dad’s eyes.”

“It couldn’t have happened to a better person, or should I say, persons.”

Leaving home after spending a few days with Mom and Dad, we drove to Miami. Florida to catch our cruise ship. As we drove, I thought about the cruise, the countries we would see, Barcelona in Spain, Rome in Italy, and Athens in Greece. What an adventure, and there was no one I would want to share this with other than Stephen.

When we returned, we drove to my parents’ home. The first thing we did was to get our films developed. Then for the next five days, we relived that cruise with the family. That was when we had time. Randy insisted on driving us around town. I could tell that Dad had the ‘talk’ with him about driving. I would bet it was the same talk he gave me.

I don't know who's luckier Stephen and Tim or Randy. Considering how well things turned out for Stephen and Tim I think it's a no brainer for Randy to go to the same university especially since Mrs Kenner will have a room ready for him.

You didn't mention if Tim's snob older sister attended the wedding

Awesome graduation and wedding, at least no drama , great honeymoon and return home so randy is an almost adopted brother, he will only get the best family available to him and all the opportunities

Whether Donnie was really behind the priest, smiling as Timothy and Stephen were married, or only in Tim's imagination, it's comforting to both guys that Donnie is on their side. Perhaps Donnie will also watch over Randy once the newlyweds move.

Timothy giving his old car to Randy ensures he and his mother will have transportation when they need it. Timothy's Dad having 'the talk' with him about being a responsible driver, shows they'll watch over Randy and his Mom.

So now that Tim and Stephen are back from their honeymoon 👨‍❤️‍👨, let's see what happens next.

:thankyou:

Great, the kiddos get married and the parents put them on the Titanic as a good luck present for the future! LOL!!! Wonderful story and I can remember the smile Randy had on his face the same as the one I had on mine getting my first set of wheels and freedom! ...of course, a 1907 Model A back then was lightening fast! 😂

Goodness, I couldn’t help thinking of the Paul Simon song…You Can Call Me AL.

Yup, the little brother, Randy, is quite a bonding element as the parents prove they are not in a rush to establish their empty nest. What a heartwarming experience for all but especially Randy as he has that security and love of his extended family. ❤️

Randy is going to be involved with Tim and especially Stephen for a long time.

I'm glad Stephens Mum saw sense. Randy is one lucky kid.

Yes, from begging on the streets to being treated as part of a family

It is always good to have happy  beginnings when young lovers become a family.  Randy will miss Tim and Stephen as well as Mrs. Kenner, but then she may well have Randy renting a room from her soon.  Stephen's mother did see the light is sounds.  Tim's parents still have a young man under their roof for awhile yet.

Donnie apparently  said goodbye to Tim at the wedding as well.  Or did he?  I can  see a continuation with this story in Part Two.  Would be refreshing to follow Tim and Stephen in their days right after graduation/marrige day!  To learn how Tim enjoys the job with Gramps.  I think we have not heard the last of Tim, Stephen, Randy and their families.  Or the expanding family of Tim and Stephen.   Let us all hope that will happen as well.  Thank you once again.

You haven't heard the last of that group. This story is still being written, as they say

And so you shall.  Tim's father has, in his mind, adopted Randy. Maybe he missed having Tim around.

I think you made an error. 1907, you meant 1970, right?

The first car for any boy was a major deal. I don't think there is a man alive who doesn't remember that first car.

Sorry, been a busy weekend at work. Tim must have forgotten my invite, but never mind I was busy as it happens🤗 Married, must be nice, my man said it was tooooo gay!!! Married is gay? That's a new one on me! Dad sounds happy now as he has a second son to spoil...

Totally jealous, I live over here and never been out of England, well Paris once but that was overnight for a job interview. A friend just had a two week holiday and when asked said 'Med Cruise' as if it happens all the time. I had a week off and it was what they call a STAYCATION. Totally jealous of Tim.
