Timothy - 17. Chapter 17

Walking into Mrs. Kenner’s house, we saw Al and his girlfriend sitting in the common room. They were watching TV. We waved hello and headed for my apartment. I was tired and ready for bed. No matter how comfortable Stephen’s beds were at his home, mine would feel better. While taking our shower, I realized why my bed felt better. Stephen was in it.

Stephen finalized our wedding plans and printed off invitations. Those that we had to mail, he printed envelopes, I had to glue those together. Those that didn’t need to be mailed we handed out. I teased Albert, saying we could make it a double wedding. Mrs. Kenner said she wasn’t surprised.

Four weeks before the semester would be over, I crammed for the bar exam. I had Stephen ask me questions from the example tests in the book. I’d write out the answer and then check my answer with the book. Stephen kept saying, you’ll kill this test. I only hope his words were true.

We had a break between the last day of the semester and graduation. I wanted to take the bar exam doing that time. I told my advisor why I wanted to take the bar before graduation, even knowing I wouldn’t have the results until after graduation.

Two days before graduation, I got a note from my advisor telling me that I could take the bar exam at the offices of Judge Journal. He was on our state’s Supreme Court.

Have you ever felt excited and afraid at the same time? I was excited about being able to take the exam and fearful of failing.

The day before the test, Stephen made sure I was relaxed and not thinking about the test. We took a ride to the country. I parked the car and walked among the trees. We took off our shoes and socks, soaking our feet in the cold stream of water. Laying back on the grass, kissing, nestling in his arms, I felt safe, and all was right with the world, our world.

On the day of the exam, “Do your best, Tim. I’m pulling for you, and you have your good luck charm above.”

“How do you know about that?”

“I had a dream last night. A young man said to tell you to take your time. He said it’s like milking goats, and you need to have patience.”

I started to laugh. “The teats on a goat are tiny compared to a cow. So milking a goat, you need to take your time to get all of the milk.”

“I don’t understand.”

So I showed him. “That is how you milk a cow, and a goat is like this.”

Now I started something that we finished in the shower.

Arriving at Judge Journal’s office, I introduced myself to the receptionist. She told me to take a seat, and she would notify Judge Journal I am here.

I waited about 15 minutes, a nervous 15 minutes before she came back with what looked like a small book. “If you follow me, I’ll show you the conference room.”

Arriving at the conference room, she set the book on the table, “There is a carafe of coffee and bottles of water in that refrigerator. I’ll come back when the time is up. If you finish before I come back, push 651 on that phone. Good luck.”

I opened the book and started to answer the questions.

Six hours later, I stopped for a glass of water. I still hadn’t finished the book. After eight hours, the receptionist came back and took the book. “The Bar Association will notify you as to the results of your test and if you passed the bar.”

Arriving back at my apartment Stephen was waiting for me with a spaghetti dinner. We had a quest, I saw the pizza before Randy grabbed me.

“How did you do?”

“Don’t know, the Bar Association will let me know. Where are my family, and did your mother come?”

“I have booked everyone into the hotel next to the University. Randy is staying here, and his mother is with your family.”

I was tired. I think mental exhaustion is worse than physical exhaustion. I took a shower, alone. Stephen took the food to his apartment. I put on a pair of sweats and headed to Stephen’s apartment. I had a small plate of spaghetti.

“I’m sorry, guys, but I’m beat. Stephen, what you don’t eat tonight, put it in the fridge we can have it for breakfast. Good night guys.” I kissed Stephen good night, and when I turned, there was Randy. I hugged him and kissed him on his forehead.

I was out as soon as my head hit the pillow. I had a dream, which I hadn’t had for a long time, ‘Donnie.’ In my dream, we were sitting by our fishing pond. “Timmy, you did well on your exam. You now need to focus on Stephen and your life with him. When the time comes, I’ll meet you and Stephen. Name your first child, Donald. He will surprise you.” Then he was gone, but I felt relaxed.

I was awake early in the morning. I fixed coffee and poured myself a glass of OJ. As I was putting the bottle of juice back into the fridge, I felt a pair of arms going around me. Turning my head, I got a kiss. “Get Randy up. We have time for our morning run.”

Running like we did when Randy was living here brought back memories. “This is like old times.”

“Yes, unfortunately, it will be the last time we make this run.”

Another wonderful chapter Cal, but is the last line “Yes, unfortunately, it will be the last time we make this run." a cliffhanger or simply an acknowledgement that school as over?

Donnie's appearance in both Stephen & Timothy's dreams promises Tim's passed the bar exam and a glimpse into their future including a baby he (Donnie) asked to be named Donald. I'm thinking Donald Stephen would be nice. 🚼

As we celebrate Remembrance / Veteran's Day, 🌺 I hope you are keeping well.

Tony (Anton).

A beautiful story of two men deeply in love who are beginning their lives together officially. One of the most heartwarming moments in life is when you say 'I Do' and then the world will never be the same again. Young Donnie will come blasting onto the scene and the joy only keeps getting better and better. Congratulations Timothy and Stephen, now go make bunnies! :)

Preparation for a major exam like that is enough to make a person physically ill.  I’m not surprised he was so engrossed with writing the answers that he lost track of time, although I’m surprised there were no bathroom breaks. (On the other hand, if he wasn’t drinking any water, he wouldn’t need a break, would he?! 😝)

I don’t think Steven would have any problem naming their first child after Donnie, considering how close he and Tim had been.  It’s a lovely way to honor someone, especially if he is no longer there.  We recently had a new baby in our family and they paid us the ultimate honor of naming him after my husband.  When they told me, I started crying, understanding what they were telling him.  He finds it difficult to believe.  He keeps asking if they named the baby after HIS uncle and/or cousin.  I just think he can’t believe they would think that highly of him.  He doesn’t understand that he is the family patriarch. It’s always been someone else. Adding Steven’s name as a middle name would be quite appropriate, also.  That’s what they did in our case.  The Daddy’s name is the baby’s middle name.

(Sorry for the ramble.  Put it down to me just waking up, I guess.)

I never heard how much is involved in taking the bar exam 6 hours before getting some water?Even a bad lawyer has to be pretty smart to pass that.

I would worry about Stephen reaction when Tim speaks of naming their kid Donald but Stephen also said something about seeing Donnie in a dream so I guess  it will be all good.

In some way Tim will always remember Donnie. Young love I always remembered with a smile

I am sure Tim is going to pass the bar exam,  with Donnie looking on.  Both Tim and Stephen having dreams that sound as though Donnie was watching them.  Trusting your deams or strong feelings is something other individuals may not be comfortable in doing.  But, i have had certain feelings when responding to many incidents.  These feelings as I call them would give me a sense of calm most of the time.  It was when these feelings were more intense and felt almost as though they were in the dark of night.  Those feelings would make me have goose bumps suddenly.  I began to listen to those feelings I would have before arriving at the scene of my call.  I soon realized that I was being given hints as to what would soon would be the cause of my goose bumps.  Sometimes these feelings were very strong and others very mild.  I am sure that others have had some sort of  insight to things that  they  happen later.  Not everyone has a belief with such things, but when certain things fall into place it does make you wonder just a little bit more in your own mind.  Tim with the help of Stephen seems to have be comfortable with the bar exam.  I know others that have taken this exam, when they finished the exam I remember some comments given to me about the stress they had before, during and even after the exam.   With the graduation ceremony and the wedding the same day,  I can understand why Tim wanted to get the bar exam taken care of.  I am sure that was a good thought for him.

The statement "Yes, unfortunately, it will be the last time we make this run" , made by Tim has me thinking there will be something more coming ahead with Tim, Stephen, Randy and his mother.  As well as with Stephen's family.  I do hope this is the case.  It will be interesting to see what tomorrow brings for the newly weds.

Thank you for making this a great story to read.

My grandson took the bar exam and for two weeks he fretted over that exam.  It's a tough exam but then any exam to be certified in a profession is meant to be difficult .  My engineering exam took two days.

Some people call it 'feelings' or intuition, call it what you want but I started writing when in a dream I wrote a story. I woke up and copied the story. one of these days I'll post it. That was the start of my writing.

I hope they don't make goats.

Even though they spent a lot of time together in college, there is still more to discover about each other. Fun ahead as they live their life as a gay couple.

Never totaled an exam to get into a bar before ... are the alcohol laws so different over thee? Loved it, poor Tim how ever did he survive an 8 hour exam? Got everything crossed for him🤪

You are such a wit. Are there exams a lawyer or what ever you English call them, required to pass an exam?

Tim survived the exam but he doesn't know if he passed or not

Another great chapter, naming the baby after Donnie is fantastic, I have no doubts Tim passes the exam, with the studying he's put in, he'll ace it!

Looking forward to graduation and the wedding!!

Somewhere a young child/baby is destined to meet Tim and Steven, that will be interesting!~!

I think there will be at least two, a boy named donnie and a girl to satisfy Stephen's mother/ But yoiu can never tell.
