Thanks, Val. With each passing year it seems I feel the cold more, and like where you are,  the last few days here have bluefish cold. My mare has been in for four days, but she is getting older, and I worry more.   Yes, we soldier on, but my bed is hard to leave on days like this.  

Mother Nature may hold the reins, but we find the way survive. She may freeze our flesh, bones and blood, but never our spirit, nor our will to conquer that new day.

Alone? Never.

Thanks, Nick! Yup... she's the boss, and I must admit her chill temperatures can be invigorating, and meeting the challenge of them can be satisfying. Alone? It's a feeling that visits, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.    

I loved some of the images you used here; grey coating the morning and sun kissing snow crystals. You set them next to reality in frosted windows and green cedars. The result is striking in its beauty.

As beautiful as you make the sun on snow sound, I'll stay inside with my central heating and wish for a cup of hot chocolate.  We've had it easy so far--upper 20s, but as you say, the coldest month for us is a couple weeks away.  I can do without it all since it's not fun anymore.  As a kid, I'd be out in it sledding or building a fort or snowmen, and having snowball fights with the neighbor kids...now, just hoping my arthritic knees aren't going to hurt at the same time.  Sigh.

I'm with you, buddy. But the horse and kitties need me. God, I hate breaking the ice from their dishes and the mare's pail.   Like you, I used to love winter as a kid. Yeah... the good old days.

 Upper 20's???? No, nope. Can't do it.  We had 67 and 72 degree days last week and then it rained and dropped the temps to 44 and 34 tomorrow. My  hip and knee try to tell me to stay inside, but until I can work from home, I rub them with ointment and drag myself to work. The good things are, this is Atlanta, and our winter's are mild and spring will probably start next month. And we haven't seen snow in about 2 years...knock on wood! 😁  I've never been sledding or built a fort. 

Lovely imagery. But it made me cold. 😊 If I see snow crystals, I'm not leaving the house. And neither is the rest of the city.  As everyone should know by now, Atlanta doesn't handle ice and snow very well. We panic and close schools and businesses, buy all the food in the grocery stores worry about trees falling on cars and houses and taking out power lines, and then it melts by evening or the next day. 🤣

Hello, My Lady.  I spent every winter day outside as a kid, growing up in New Brunswick. We used to walk through deep snow to school, me, my brothers, and my cousins, no matter how cold it was. We'd get to our one room school house, and whoever arrived first of the older kids(fifth and six graders), had to get the wood stove going. We had no running water there... just outhouses... just like at home. Now I hate going a short distance to the barn, and there is running water in it.   The cold hurts now.

Thanks, LadyDe. I've heard how Atlanta handles the snow.   Sorry I made you feel cold, but it's a fact of life for us Canadians... well not so much for Vancouver. I do miss the days when it was fun to be out in it all day. Now I do what I need to and scurry back to the warmth... cheers, my dear friend... Gary....

Wow this one really hits home for me right now, we just got 6 inches of snow here and and the high this morning was 18 degrees, 4 with wind chill but the sun on the snow was beautiful. I just refuse to leave the house lol.

Lol. That's how I felt this morning, Lizzy, and I'm pleased it hit home for you. I think it's good I have my chores to take care of, rain or shine. Maybe it will help keep me young.   Once I'm out there, it's not so bad... for about twenty minutes. It's going to get even colder in a couple of days... brrrr.
