Adam Blake - 42. Chapter 42

The first explosion

“Ambassador, why don’t you go in and hug your son. You can tell him the good news.”

“Steve, do you have a copy of my book?”

“No” James handed him a copy.

“You do now. If you want to know where I’m coming from and where we’re going, it’s all in there.”

Just then the door opened and Richard came out with his dad’s arm around his shoulder. He came over to shake my hand and I got a hug from Richard.

“I trust everything went well.”

“Yes, James, everything for Richard went well, now I have to worry about Monday. I didn’t take this job for the money. I was teaching teachers at my university while helping kids who were smart but needed an extra push. Then soon after I came here, I realize that students needing help are universal, so now I want to stay here and revolutionize teaching methods. These kids are from all over the world, they will take these lessons with them. What a way to change the world”

Just as I was about to enter my office, Jane came running in. “What happened?”

“Nothing happened why?”

“Ambassador Damon went into Arlene’s office. I heard shouting and ran here. What did you do Doc?”

“Ask James I didn’t do anything. The Ambassador’s son came to me for help, I help him and his father is proud of him and they left my office together. So I don’t know why there is a fight in Arlene’s office. You should go back and see if she’s ok.”

“You know Doc that isn’t the whole truth.”

“It pretty much is James. It’s what I do, a student has a problem, I analyze the problem, find a solution and apply the solution. It’s what I did for Richard.”

Now I wonder what would happen. “James, let's go and see what our Knights are doing.”

We walked into the cafeteria and I noticed 5 teachers in line, several of the boys were behind us, I let them go through, then James and I started through when Jane caught up with me. “You ok?”

“Yes”

Taking our trays we head toward my Knight’s table. Before I sat down, the boys stood up. “We are the Knights of the Square Table. We pledge ourselves to excellence and to help each other to excel.” They then stomped on the floor before sitting down.

I was left standing, “Knights of the Square Table I salute you on your quest. May it be profitable and honorable. All for one and one for all”

I sat down and everyone smiled, but Richard had the biggest smile. “Sir, can my father sit with us?.

“Is he Knight material, does he believe as we do?”

“Yes sir”

“Then he may join the Knights of the Square Table.”

Everyone laughed when the Ambassador sat next to his son and messed up his hair. I looked at the Ambassador and he smiled. “You have all of the students in the palm of your hand.”

“No sir, they have me in the palm of their hand. They have given me one of the greatest responsibilities a student can give a teacher, the right to educate them.”

One of the students started, hear hear hear. They all joined in. We were making a lot of noise when Arlene came in. She started to say something, then she saw the Ambassador and left. I looked at Jane, she hadn’t finished eating and was going to get up to follow Arlene, “Sit and finish your lunch. If she says anything let me know. It might get to be roping time at the ole ranch.”

When everyone was finished, I asked everyone to stay a few minutes as I wanted to say something. “I have reviewed your exam papers and I have noticed several have not finished the exam in the allotted time. I want to make a change and as Knights, I need your help. I want to create a test center where all tests will be taken. There’ll be a monitor in case of questions. The test will be graded by the teacher giving the test. Now the room I have selected is on the third floor and needs to be cleaned. Those who are willing to help, even if it’s for 30 minutes, will be treated to a pizza party here in the cafeteria. Any questions?”

“Does that mean there won’t be time limits on the test?”

“Yes, once you have finished the test you may leave the room. Just give your test to the monitor and leave. The monitor will see that the test reaches the right teacher. If you want to help, stop by my office and give your name to Knight James.”

Ole Bagpipes was ready to blow walking into the cafeteria until her bags were deflated just by the site of the Ambassador. One has to wonder why she's so against newer ways of learning when many of the teachers are being supportive and the morale of the school has to be improving. That in itself would be hard to miss for anyone! Might be interesting if the Board decides to dismiss Arlene and appoint Adam as Headmaster and Director of Education. Wouldn't that be a blow to Ole Bagpipes! LOL!!!

Excellent chapter, Arlene is going to be livid but powerless to stop it or change things. Adam has currently the entire student body behind him

I think there is something else, she sees a threat on her control of the staff, Adam is getting the lower echelon loyal to him, he's listening and making corrective moves.  I wonder if she is hiding something. He has the boys in the palm of his hand, so if she tries something that affects the boys, he will know

And that is a threat from Arlene's view. Every thing she does will get back to Adam via his boys

Excellent principle... Shame the Knights can't exist in every school and every school have an Adam. I sure know that my children would have achieved far more if they had had an Adam in their school life. Absolutely loving Adam and the boys. :2thumbs:

I have now read all of stories now written by CLJobe that were posted before this one. I have liked most every one of them very much. But as of now this is my favorite so far. I like the plot of the story, and the characters. Keep up the good work!
